Fruit for this wine is sourced from two blocks of mature Shiraz vines grown on the rich red soils at the northern end of Coonawarra, approximately six kilometres north of the Coonawarra Store.
The dry nature of this area produces low-yielding vines where the fruit is highly concentrated in flavour, resulting in vibrant and elegant styles of wines.

Grown on Tim Kidman's ‘old vine block'. Open-fermented, 12 months in 25% new and 75% third-fill French oak. Attractive raspberry fruit and a feeling of freshness through this wine. It flows easily along the palate, supple and relatively soft with good length of flavour. Seems to be built more around acidity than tannin which enhances its drinkability. No hurry though.

A rich a flavorful shiraz with dried-berry, mint and spearmint undertones. Some dried meat, too. Full body. Round tannins. Drink now.

A beautiful Shiraz. Lots of pleasure to be found within. Well played Phil Lehmann. A symphony of dark berry fruit is rubbed with a dash of charcoal. Some tar, earthiness, plus splinters of dark chocolate. Fine grippy tannins see it out. The type of wine you could sit on for a while and just enjoy each sip. Drink now to eight years.

Deep, rich colour of good hue and a concentrated, ripe and appealing shiraz bouquet, which emphasises blackberry-like fruit and ample soft tannins, punctuated by mid-palate fruit sweetness. A delicious full-bodied shiraz, which will age well but is already drinking superbly.

This wine has good fruit integrity – very pure & focused. Blackcurrant & redcurrant aromas. Fabulous primary fruit intensity & silky tannins. Oak plays no sensory part. Beautifully medium-bodied. Acidity gives a brightness. Very well made. I also noted the acidity, which merely adds to the freshness & generous flavours. The tannins are soft & balanced. The wine is ready now but will gain complexity in bottle if that’s your preference.

This is shiraz from a terroir more attuned to Bordeaux varieties. Nevertheless, a judicious touch across reductive handling serves this wine well, imparting a bouncy tension. Lilac, nori seaweed & ample boysenberry & other blue fruits waft from fore to aft. A lick of peppery acidity & medium level tannins keeps the regalia on the straight and narrow.

Not often that I prefer a Coonawarra shiraz over its sibling cabernet but in this case, I do.
This is plump with red/black berried fruit but it has just enough muscle to give it some presence. Oak-spice and toast-like notes add to this impression but both are in modest measure. It’s the volume of flavour, the balance, the ripple of tannin and the linger. It’s in good shape, and in a good place.
