Fruit for this wine is sourced from the Kidman and Wetherall family vineyards located around the central and northern end of the terra rossa strip. This area is known for being a preferable growing location for Shiraz.

Picked by a Selective' harvester, sorting the fruit in the vineyard, matured in French barriques and hogsheads for 12 months. Bright purple-crimson; this has all that Coonawarra can do so well if treated well, both in the vineyard and the winery. Supple and smooth blackberry and plum fruit sit in a coach, throwing money to the masses as in the years of past millennia.

Purple fruit bursts from the glass with black and red berries in hot pursuit. Sourced from vines in the northern part of Coonawarra, this is the sixth release of this wine. The fruit is juicy with a dusting of black pepper and some earthiness for good measure. Sitting long, fine spices cling to a finish which is moreish and oozes delish. Top stuff. Drink now to six years.

This wine really allows some quality fruit to shine. Aromas of blueberry and dark plum lead a supporting dash of cedar oak spice out of the glass. On the palate, the fruit flavours are also in the blue and black fruit spectrum, and beautifully framed by perfectly balanced teamwork from the bright acidity and fine tannins. Very very good and great value!

Deep red/purple colour and a shy, plummy aroma with bold, bright, youthful but essentially straightforward fruit aroma and flavour. The finish and aftertaste are peppery. Plenty of body and mouth-coating tannins which linger strongly on the aftertaste. There's a nice core of sweet fruit. A good wine with potential. It will repay cellaring.

Coonawarra shiraz. Grown on the Kidman and Wetherall vineyards. It only sees French oak. Medium-bodied but well fruited and textured. This is pretty solid. It tastes of plum and black cherries, briar and saltbush, toasty oak having a say too. It’s 100% shiraz but it almost feels as though there’s cabernet (or even merlot) in the mix; it just has a slightly mulberried/tobacco-like note in the background. In any case it drinks well and feels good in the mouth too.

This wine has such engaging energy. Classy red fruits with gentle spice and background savouriness. Gorgeous nuances of sarsaparilla, red currants and snappy sour cherries. It retains its vibrancy while in the glass looks great from the very first pour. Fabulous value.
