2018 Cabernet Sauvignon
Coonawarra Series

As with previous vintages our Coonawarra Series Cabernet is made up from fruit sourced predominantly from our vitculturalist Brett Williams’ vineyard located on the railway line just north of the Parker Estate Cellars. Several parcels have also come from our estate ‘Abbey’ vineyard to complete the blend.
Another mild summer and consequent long-vintage has produced an elegant Cabernet from the 2018 season. Bright fruit, excellent varietal definition and intense colour has been recorded.
2018 COONAWARRA SERIES CABERNET REVIEWS
90 POINTS - STEVE LESZCZYNSKI
Like its Shiraz sibling, this Cabernet is a reliable get. Barbecue wine comes easy. Blackberry paste, leafy and shards of dark chocolate are prominent. Some meatiness kicks on before a rush of mint on exit. Finishing firmish with dusty tannins, you'd be a hard marker not to enjoy a glass.

91 POINTS - CAMPBELL MATTINSON
...The fruit is both generous and soft, it remains clearly varietal, the finish is sound and it’s satisfying all round. Blackberry, mint, leaf matter and a gravelly, cedary character. It has the tannin, dryness and leafiness of cabernet but the berried fruit here feels eager to burst free.

Aromas of plum and spice with tobacco and mint undertones. Dried fruit and figs. Medium body, firm and silky tannins and a tangy finish. Drink now.

90 POINTS - STEVE LESZCZYNSKI
Rock solid Coonawarra Cabernet that rarely misses a beat. A good buy for the money. All the expected varietal characteristics parade for attention. Roasted peppers and cigar box notes do their best to stand out. Smooth fruit through the mouth before a dusty finish. Drink now to eight years.

2016 COONAWARRA SERIES CABERNET REVIEWS
91 POINTS - JAMES HALLIDAY
From two vineyards, fermented in stainless steel, 10-15 days on skins, matured in French oak for 12 months. Coonawarra cabernet from a vintage as good as '16 is an opportunity not to miss at this price (possibly less if you shop around). It is flush with cassis fruit, and there are tannins to give support to that fruit, oak incidental.

100 BEST AUSTRALIAN WINES 18/19 - MATTHEW JUKES
Parker’s renaissance as a premium Aussie Cabernet producer is complete. My featured estate wine is very good indeed with superbly fresh, bright, cassis and mulberry fruit leading the way and it is perfectly balanced throughout. The finish is honed and refreshing but not overly tannic or dry which is incredible bearing in mind its youth. I sense that an awful lot of the following wine wells in the core of the Estate cuvée and this gives it a degree of flair and integrity rarely found in fifteen quid wines.

90 POINTS - TONI PATERSON
Soft, fleshy, ripe and chocolatey with good mid-palate density. Rounded and slightly warming. The tannins are integrated and balanced.

90 POINTS - GARY WALSH
Good regional flavour, a bit of firm tannin, fairly balanced acidity, and a decent finish. Mixed berries, a little tobacco and cedar, nougat, a slight gum leaf perfume. I like that it has tannin and carry on the finish, and feels like it’s made to be enjoyed by people who like a bit of structure in their wine, even in one that’s made to be approachable young. Nice one.

Terrific buying for Cabernet fans here... All the Cabernet boxes are ticked. Juicy fruit is rolled out with soft feels. Black berries and fruits are the pleasers here. Some cigar box nuances and blue fruits sneak in. A consistent performer and a no brainer if looking for a reliable Cabernet. Drink now to five years.

90 POINTS - HUON HOOKE
Deepish red colour with a tinge of purple. The bouquet is pleasantly herbal and berry-ish, balanced, and it's fresh and attractive in the mouth with pleasant mulberry and raspberry flavours, soft tannins and a little astringency, but the mouth-feel is good and the wine is balanced and appealing.
