Fruit for this wine is sourced from two blocks of mature Shiraz vines grown on the rich red soils at the northern end of Coonawarra, approximately six kilometres north of the Coonawarra Store.
The dry nature of this area produces low-yielding vines where the fruit is highly concentrated in flavour, resulting in vibrant and elegant styles of wines.

From two blocks on a single vineyard, open-fermented, 11 days on skins, matured for 14 months in French hogsheads (10% new). A very rich wine, reflecting the vintage with blackberry/plum fruit with a twist of mocha/chocolate.

Deep red/purple colour, with a sweetly ripe blackberry, black cherry and subtly floral aroma. A touch of cassis. The winemaking allows the fruit to shine. The palate has a big, sweet-fruited dollop of flavour, which is backed by solid, earthy tannins. There's no doubt about the generosity. A solid wine that's well priced.

Coonawarra shiraz. Big and more black-berried than you normally expect of Coonawarra shiraz but pretty good for it. Toasty oak, choc-mint characters and firm tannin continue the bold theme. This is a sturdy, warm, satisfying red wine.

Grown on Tim Kidman's ‘old vine block'. Open-fermented, 12 months in 25% new and 75% third-fill French oak. Attractive raspberry fruit and a feeling of freshness through this wine. It flows easily along the palate, supple and relatively soft with good length of flavour. Seems to be built more around acidity than tannin which enhances its drinkability. No hurry though.
